if interested
With school starting very soon...I ordered a few things from a magazie called Creative Teaching Press. Great products but wanted to share with anyone that they have ebooks that you can buy and download to your computer. There are also two blogs that can be followed for lesson plans, crafts, and more. tommiestools.blogspot.com and rozanneandfriends.blogspot com.

Eportfolio help!
I have chosen to create a simple portfolio so that I can learn how to implement information, graphics, effects, etc. I chose to search on line for different types of web page creators and came across wix.com..Has anyone ever used it? Pretty good with effects and different ways to put information on there but i am struggling to put links on to my page. I have cut/ pasted. Tried to link, upload documents with link in it..nothing works. If anyone has any clue let me know. I have been working on it for the past week here and there and really don't want to restart.

Worthless staff developments
When reading the article, Drill the teacher, educate the kids, it brought me to thinking about the class that i am currently taking w/ Dr. Howe. In Ed 521, we are discussing how to create staff developments that are goign to be worthy and beneficial. The key componet to making the workshop/inservice work throughout the year, needs to be bit by bit, piece by piece. Every workshop/inservice teachers are involvled in is generally for the students. We are there to learn more and how it will benefit them. I love in the article instead of teachers coming back to reflect, just have students come to workshops so that they can learn about the technology that the inservice was trying to teach. In the class i am currently taking now, it is so eye opening at the time that is alloted among the school year to give teachers more education to help their students. As a whole, every person in my class says the same thing. It is presented but never followed up or implemented as a whole and not by bits and pieces. When will someone listen to us teachers???

EPortfolio
Although I missed the last class, I am pretty excited about this online portfolio that you can create. So many ways to show your work:)..I need some pointers if anyone has any??? Which is the best to use? Does is it matter? I think this is a g reat way to see what work has been completed and hte progress over a course of time. I would love for my studetns to create one and present it to parents on portfolio night. It beats all the papers and time consuming organization

so many useful tools!!
I think during class we all had the deer in head light look...lol, but in reality there was just so much that I think alot of us were unaware of. Overwhelming, yet learning experience. there are so many useful tools out there to be used in classrooms and share among teachers. We chose to use Prezi as our storytelling. I played around with it adn once you get the hang of it, its really neat to see how it comes together. This year i will be teaching writing/language arts in 5th grade. I would love to have the students create stories w/ this program. Love Love Love the site coolforschool i think it was..so many things to use. I wish i had more time to search thru them all, but i guess one at a time will do. Definitly will use alot of this in my teaching in the next coming school year. this class is probably one of the most beneficial yet:)

ADDICTED!!
I don't know about anyone else in the class, but at first I was so nervous about the assignment that we need to w/ the virtural field trip. I love this this assignment. I feel like once i got the hang of it, i wanted to just keep adding more and more. this assignment is great for any grade level. You can make it as easy or challenging as you want.I am having trouble with linking my map though. If anyone knows let me know. I have no clue what i'm doing wrong. I use webquests in my room throughout the year. The kids love them! This assignment reminds me of one of those. If nobody has used web quests before..just go to google. home page and type in webquests for that grade level and subject. you will get a list of different ones...they are so much fun for the kids.
